So, I haven't been on here in awhile. Figured it was time to write you something. As you can tell by the title, things are changing for me. In the last few months I got engaged, pregnant and we're moving to a house that we are looking into buying. The house belonging to my friend's mother-in-law, we're being allowed to rent it first and give them the decision to buy or not at the end of September. I have one class left to take in order to graduate but it's a matter of finding on. I'm looking to take an online class as my due date is towards the last couple weeks of the semester, I just don't see fitting work, school and doctor appointments all together. Yeah, I've become soft in recent years, I think. I used to just tough things out.
At any rate, another big change for me: I might have enjoyed my semester student teaching and I learned a lot but the biggest thing I learned is I don't want to teach, it isn't for me. I know I could do it if I work at it, and I know I still have a lot to learn if I wish to pursue it (classroom management seemed to be my weakest point but it's also one of the most important things I need to learn), but I'm not going to. I only was going into teaching because I want to write. My sophomore history teacher was the one who suggested I teach because, as she put it, most writers teach so they can have a steady income. While a steady income is important, I'd rather be doing it with someone I'm happy with. So currently, I'm still working for CVS but I'm also looking into how to get started with free lance writing. I don't know how to get started, but I know if I can somehow get my name and my writing out there, then that's a good place to start. For my readers, anything you may know on how to get published and how to get started, I'll gladly hear it.
